Don is a native of Augusta, Georgia, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree from the University of Georgia in 1974. He attended the University of Georgia School of Law in 1978, and while there received the American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Procedure. Don transferred to Emory University School of Law in his second year to live with his wife, who worked in Atlanta. While at Emory, Don was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Trusts and Estates, graduated with distinction in 1981, and was admitted as a member of the prestigious Order of the Coif.
Don and his wife Shellie live in Roswell, where Don serves as an elder at Tapestry Community Church. They have three adult children and four grandchildren. Don’s primary interests outside the office are family activities, theology, cycling, and guitar.
